Now to share my project:

 

We are quickly approaching the busiest time of year for weddings. I thought I would share a nice thank you card that a bride could give to her bridesmaids. It is also suitable for a bridal shower or bacheloratte card.  I just adore this dress. Doesn’t it remind you of the one Baby wore in Dirty Dancing?? It’s so pretty. (PS I'm watching that movie right now!)

Supplies: More details of products at the end

Bridal Party Bridesmaid Dress SVG Cut File
Scalloped Hearts Frames Set FREE SVG Files
Cardstock in various colors
Adhesive
Electronic Cutting Machine and software (I am using Silhouette Studio with a Cameo)
Embellishments  

1.       Download the files listed.

2.       Open the Frames file in the design software. Choose the rectangle and move the others aside or delete.

3.       Resize the rectangle to be as close to 4.25 x 5.5” as possible by keeping the proportions the same – use the corners  -- do not stretch the sides as it will distort the hearts.

4.       Draw a rectangle to match the interior rectangle of the heart frame. Make it slightly bigger. We will glue the heart frame to this so we need to make it bigger for that. I want the scalloped part to hang off so the heart can be seen through.

5.       Move the frame to the side. Duplicate the rectangle and position above it. This is creating the card base. Make sure these are touching.

6.       Select both rectangles and right-click and choose Weld. If they don’t become one large rectangle, move them slightly closer and try again until they become one shape. This is the card base.

7.       Open the SVG file with the dress. Choose the dress you prefer. I like the one with the hanger.

8.       Size the dress to fit fully inside of the heart frame.

9.       Ungroup the dress design and separate the layers.

10.   Cut the dress parts, frame and card base in desired colors of cardstock. Also cut a rectangle the same as the inside of the frame for a background for the dress. Note: I chose the gold glitter paper and it is much flimsier than cardstock. Therefore, I cut 2 frames and glued them together. The other frame is of dark blue cardstock of which I used the center for the background behind the dress.

11.   Fold the card base in half. Adhere the frame to the front of the base. Adhere the background panel inside the frame.

12.   Assemble the dress and hanger and adhere to card.

13.   Add embellishments such as pearl, sequins or gems.

14.   Add a personal message to the inside of the card.

Wedding Card using new kit by Fifi the Papercrafter

 Hi friends!

After a summer enjoying time with her family Fifi the Papercrafter is back at it making beautiful pages to be used for junk journals, and other paper projects. I couldn't resist making a wedding card out of these beautiful flowers.

I started this project by printing 2 of the same page that contain these flowers. They run down the side of the page. I could cut them down so I could make a traditional A2 size greeting card that is very popular in the US but I decided to go with a slimline card. They are 3.5x8.5" and fit in a normal size 10 mailing envelope. I cut the flowers down to 3.25x8.25" My card base is ivory and it will add a nice frame around it.

I smear some pink Distress Oxide on my table and squirt with water to make a water color. I paint the flowers on only one of the pages. 

 

I cut the flowers out. I wanted them to be a different color that the originals.

I distressed the edges of the panel.

I chose a sentiment and gold embossing powder.

This is my favorite sentiment for wedding cards. I think I will use it for a long time. It is by Diamond Press but they don't sell it anymore. 

 

I glue the pink flowers to the card to add more color and dimension by using foam adhesive. I also added green pearls. Having other elements popped up with foam helps protect the pearls during mailing -- so bonus embellishments!

Vellum flowers for wedding card

 Hi friends! Today I made a wedding card using a stamp and die set by Petticoat Parlor. 

I started off with the patterned paper and chose a color of crayon to coordinate. 

 

I stamped the flowers on on heat safe vellum in clear embossing ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. I then cut the flowers and leaves out with the coordinating dies for the set. 

I used a Gelato crayon to color 2 big and 2 small flowers and a green Distress Crayon to color the back of each leaf. I want some flowers to remain clear. 

 

I scribble the color on the back and smear it around with a paper towel. 

I glue one small flower to the top of one large flower and add a gem for the center. 

I cut the patterned paper with a die. I really loved stitched border dies and right now I really love this modern rectangle. 

I chose a sentiment from Diamond Press's new Mega Celebrations set. 

I layout the flowers and the sentiment stamp on the patterned paper. I know that I want the flowers to be sort of billowing from the left. 

I stamp the sentiment using my stamp positioner twice using clear embossing ink. I always stamp twice with clear because you can't tell how well it applied. 

I had a hard time choosing a color. I felt silver and gold would be too light. I felt that a coordinating color would either get lost too or just not be the right shade. I decided to try the metallic gray to see how well it would show up. 

As you can see, it just doesn't show up that well. 

No worries, because I use a stamp positioner to apply the ink, I can pop the paper back on it and re-stamp with clear and it will be in the stamp position on the paper. So I did just that, applied black embossing powder directly on top of the metallic gray. 

Some of that metallic shows through and I am not mad about it all. I was afraid black would be too bold, that is why I didn't start with it but I do like it now that I see it. 

I glued the background paper to the card base. I purposely did not center it. I put it closer to the right and bottom. I do not always center things on my cards intentionally because I find that when I do and it is slightly "off" I can't mentally deal with that. So, I quit stressing and went with my own design style. For this card I did it because I knew the flowers were going on the left side and this way the colors of the patterned paper can show a little bit more. It's my style and preference but maybe it bothers you. You do what pleases you.

Now I work on gluing the leaves to the flowers and the flowers to the card. 

I purposely applied the flowers so that they hang off the card a little.

Once they are all attached, I trim the over hanging flowers and leaves so that the card will properly fit in the envelope. Some people find this painful and choose to just use a larger envelope. 

It is easier to flip the card and cut from the back.

Embossing powders used are by Darice, discontinued, use any black.

Papers are from my own collection. 

Gems are holographic stickers but any gem would be fine. 

The stamp and die set is not showing on their site. I received it from a class at an event last week. Hopefully it is coming soon. However, you can use any flowers you may already have.
