Hi friends!
When I saw this set by Diamond Press I fell in love instantly. You can see and purchase it here: Diamond Press Tropical Set I love tropical everything in the summer. I live in Michigan and I prefer to vacation in the mountains, so figure that one out! I love the colors, the flowers, the ocean, flamingos -- the whole package of the tropics.
I started by using an Ombre Ink Pad by Hero Arts to stamp the setting sun. I didn't want it to be one straight color and this works perfect.
I filled in the area surrounding the sun with a complimentary color.
I made some tropical leaves in different shades of green to contrast the background.
I chose to not use any flowers. I wanted this to be about the flamingos and I didn't want to distract from them.
I stamped the sentiment in red.
I used a deckled rectangle die to add interest and to slightly cut the panel down.I laid out and glued the leaves just in a way to frame it.
It is okay that they hang off the edges. I actually prefer elements to do that.
Next I attach 3 flamingos each with adhesive foam of different thicknesses: 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm to add some depth to the scene.
I glue the panel to the card base and trim all the pieces that overhang the card base. I love it when pieces leave the panel and go to the edge of the card.
I really love all the contrasting colors along with the flamingos.

Supplies:
I used papers from my collection. I normally don't keep track of where they came from.
