Boombox Birthday

 Hi Friends!

Today I share this birthday card I made. Now, I will admit that I got into a creative groove with this one and didn't think a whole lot about taking photos as I progressed through it. It won't be that hard to explain though. 

I used Brutus Monroe's June 2024 Inspiration Box. It is most just stamps and colored pencils. I started off by stamping the boombox first. Then I stamped cassette tapes all around. I then colored them but I decided to use the stencil that was in the box to add to the background, again with pencils. I labeled the tapes with various labels that I might have used back then. Even though I stamped a birthday sentiment on the boombox I felt it needed a more bold one. I don't know what brand the sentiment is, I bought it second-hand and the seller didn't label it.

I used a frame die to cut the card panel and shaded the card base with red.

Hippie Van Shaped Card using Sparkleberry Ink paper

 Hi friends!

Today I have made this very fun hippie van shaped card. The card itself is from the Silhouette Design Store and is Design #447401. All links and supply lists are at the end of the blog entry. 

I brought the design into Silhouette Studio.

Now, you can see this design comes with a rainbow and flowers design. I think it's really cute but I want to use and highlight the pattern by Sparkleberry Ink instead. 

I separate all the pieces on screen.

I delete those flowers and rainbows pieces. 

Not shown, but I actually cut out additional peace signs. I cut two at the size they are and then a third one that I made bigger.

I want the red piece to be cut in the Sparkleberry Ink paper and I opted to cut the white pieces out in silver glitter paper. I use 100lb paper for the card base but the others are fine with 80lb. I just want the card base to be a little heftier.

Before assembly, I decide to color the bumpers and wheel wells with gray ink. I didn't want them to be blaring white. 

I also paint the sky through the window and a tiny bit above the van with light blue. Blaring white doesn't make sense there either. 

I used purple sticky note to be a mask so I don't get ink where I don't want it. 

I used a stencil and the same blue ink to add some cloud texture to the sky for some interest. 

Now assemble and glue. The two tiny peace signs went on the hub caps and the bigger one on the sign of the van.

Birthday Card using Silhouette Cameo sketch tool

This week I made a birthday card to send to my brother. He recently bought an automobile from the 1930s so I wanted to make a card with one on it. It isn't the exact car he bought but it is pretty close.

I chose this design from Creative Fabrica:

I uploaded the SVG file into Silhouette Studio. I turned it into a sketch file and changed the edge lines to sketchy so it would have a more realistic sketch look. I had my Silhouette Cameo sketch it out using a bronze color pen.

I cut it out with a rectangle stitched die to give it a more finished look and decided to add some background color with watercolors. 

I mounted it on a piece of black cardstock. The image is not on watercolor paper so it became wavy but no worries since I am gluing it down. I think decided to add a sentiment and a cloud and sun for weather. I'm pretty pleased with the end result!
