Back to School Card with Polkadoodles Digi ChooseDay Challenge

 Hi Friends! Today I am bringing you this adorable back-to-school greeting card using designs by Polkadoodles for their Digi ChooseDay Challenge.

Supplies:
•    Design files (links below)
•    A2 Card Base
•    Alcohol Markers
•    White cardstock for printing
•    Liquid glue
•    Foam adhesive
•    Embellishments such as sequins, gems

Instruction
1.    Download and unzip the digital files. 
2.    Draw a rectangle 5.25 x 4 inches. 
3.    Drag the pencil paper design to the rectangle so that it fills the shape with the pencil design.
4.    Draw a circle 4 inches in diameter.
5.    Drag the notebook paper design to the circle so that it fills it. 
6.    Load the digital design of the girl and size it to fit the circle. 
7.    Using the print and cut feature of the software, cut the pencil rectangle, the circle and the girl.
8.    Print a sheet of the sentiments. Cut out the one you would like, I chose “Big Dreams, Tiny Steps” as I thought that was fitting for a first day of school.
9.    Color the girl with alcohol markers.
10.    Adhere the rectangle to the card base.
11.    Adhere the circle off-center to the card base on top of the pencil rectangle. Trim excess paper. 
12.    Adhere the girl to the circle using foam adhesive.
13.    Adhere the sentiment.
14.    Adhere some embellishments. I used holographic stars.

CRAFT Challenge Blog #784

 Hi there friends,

The latest challenge over on the CRAFT Challenge Blog is "Thank you" or anything goes. The sponsor is Doctor Digi's House of Stamps. 

 I printed the design out to fit on an A2 card base. I colored with alcohol makers. I added some sparkly sequins. The sentiment is from Spellbinders Weekender kit. It is pricey and the sets will not be released individually but let me tell you, I love every piece of it. The sentiment is heat embossing in white. It has a die to cut it out but I just used scissors. Lastly it is mounted on a solid cardstock in green and then an A2 size card base. 

 I thought this would be such a fun thank you card to give to a host of a summer cookout. So funny. I will attach it to a bottle of BBQ sauce from a local restaurant. It's just the little things to enjoy in life.

Christmas in July with Polkadoodles

Hi Friends! I am carrying on the Christmas in July project with this sweet Santa card using designs by Polkadoodles.

 

Santa and the background are colored with Ohuhu alcohol markers. I just love how they blend! The background paper and the sentiment are both from Polkadoodles too. The links are found below.

Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction is exactly how I made my card. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My specific supply list is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

List basic supplies Digital files
alcohol makers
White cardstock for printing
green cardstock 4 x 5.25 inch panel
black cardstock for shadow layer of sentiment.
white A2 card base
printer
electronic cutter
liquid adhesive
foam adhesive
white acrylic marker
embellishments

Instruction Download and unzip the digital files.
Draw a rectangle 2.75 x 3.75 inches.
Load the Santa digital design and size it to fit the rectangle.
Draw another rectangle 3 x 4 inches. This will be a layer behind Santa.
Draw a rectangle 3.75 x 5 inches.
Drag the digital paper file into this new rectangle.
Choose a sentiment and add that to the workspace in the software.
Using Print and Cut feature for the Santa, a sentiment, and background piece, print and then cut but also cut the white rectangle or use a paper trimmer.
Color the Santa with alcohol markers.
Use an acrylic maker to add white dots for snow.


Glue sentiment to black cardstock and trim to leave a border.Add foam adhesive to back.
Layer and position each piece as shown.


Add embellishments.

Digital Design - link at bottom for the one I used
Cardstock
Printer
Alcohol Markers
Sequins or other embellishments
A2 Card Base

I used Ohuhu markers - colors used: B02, BG4, BG68, BV26, G2, G34, GY1, GY7, GY43, R22, RP1, RV23, V22, Y06, Y07, Y2, YGY02

Instruction In Silhouette Studio, draw a rectangle the size of your card minus 0.25 or 0.5 inches on both sides to allow for a border. Mine is A2 or 4.25x5.5 inches.
Download and unzip the 2 files by Polkadoodles, links available below.
Drag the image of the soda cart into the software and resize to fit in the rectangle.
Choose a sentiment from the other Polkadoodles file. Drag it into the rectangle to fit below the cart.
On the send panel, be sure that the sentiment and the image are set NOT to cut, just the rectangle.
Using the Print & Cut feature, print it on cardstock and let the Cameo cut it out.
Color the image with alcohol markers.
Adhere a colored cardstock to the surface of the card base to coordinate with the colors used to color the image.
Adhere card panel with image to the card base.
Adhere embellishments such as sequins.
All it needs now is a sentiment or a personal message on the inside.

CRAFT Challenge Blog #782

Hi Friends!

The newest challenge over at CRAFT Challenge Blog and the theme is "cute." I am working with a design by Polkadoodles.

Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction is exactly how I made my card. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My specific supply list is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

Basic supplies:design file (link listed below)
white cardstock for printing
colored cardstock for border
A2 card base
alcohol markers
printer
electronic cutter
rectangle die
white acrylic paint marker
sequins or gems
sentiment stamp and ink



Instruction Download and unzip file.
Draw a rectangle in the software for your cutting machine to be 5 x 3.75"
Drag the design file into the software and resize to fit inside the rectangle.
On send panel, turn off the cut lines for the design image. We only want to cut the rectangle.
One the design panel, select both the image and the rectangle and center them. Group them together.
Turn on the registration marks for the Print and Cut feature.
Print the page.
Cut with your cutting machine.(alternatively you can just print the page and use a paper trimmer.)
Color the design using alcohol markers.
Cut a colored piece of cardstock with a stitched die to be 5.25 x 4 inches.
Adhere the colored design to the colored cardstock and then adhere both to the card base.
Stamp a sentiment.
Adhere 3 sequins.
Add an interior sentiment or message.

Graduation Card with Polkadoodles Crafts

 Hi there friends!

Today I am sharing this really cute graduation card:

Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction is exactly how I made my card. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My supply list is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

Supplies needed (specifics at end)

• A2 card base - i used blue 
• graduation design file
• background file
• sentiment file
• action wobbler or spring
• alcohol markers
• liquid adhesive
• foam adhesive
• embellishments such as sequins or gems 
• printer
• white cardstock for printing
• electronic cutting machine 

Instruction: 

1. Download and unzip the files (links below) for the designs from Polkadoodles.  
2. Draw a rectangle in the software that is 4 x 5.25"
3. From the paper pack, choose  the paper with the suns and clouds repeated on it. Drag it into the rectangle. Adjust the scale as desired. 
   
   
   
4.  From the sentiments, choose the word "Hooray!" and bring it into the software. Adjust the size as desired.
5. Bring in the graduation girl png file. Size it to fit inside the rectangle. 
6. Using the Print & Cut feature, turn on the registration marks. Layout the girl, the background and the sentiment. 
7. Print with your printer and cut with your machine.
8. Use alcohol markers to color the graduation girl.

   9.  Adhere the graduate to the background with the suns

Chooseday Challenge with Polkadoodles

 Hi there friends!

Today I am sharing this ladybug wraparound or belly band card using design files by Polkadoodles Crafts. 

 

You can join the Digi Choosday Anything Goes challenge over at Polkadoodles - here is my card that hopefully gives you some inspiration.

 

Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction is exactly how I made my card. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My supply list with specific items is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

 

General supplies needed:

• 1 sheet of white 110 lb cardstock
• Paper Trimmer  
• Scoring board with bone folder 
• Polkadoodles design files linked on specific supply list at bottom 
• 4 sheets of white cardstock for printing
• Printer
• Cutting machine 
• glue 
• alcohol markers
• fine tip black marker 

1.  Cut the sheet of cardstock to 11 x 5.5 inches. 
2. Score the 11" side at 2.5" and 6.75". Fold on these score lines to form a z fold A2 size card. 
   
   
   
3. With smaller piece from step 1, cut a strip 1 x 11 inches. Score this strip at the 3.5" and 7.75"
   
   
   
4. Cut the leftover piece to 4.5 x 2" for the belly band panel.
5. In the design software, Draw rectangles that are these sizes:
1. 4.25 x 1.75" = belly band panel
2. 2.25 x 5.25" = flap panel
3. 3 rectangles that are 4 x 5.25 = 1 is exterior panel and 2 are for the interior
6. Download and unzip the design files.
7.  Open the file called "Set 4 papers Lilybug Ladybird"
8. Drag the papers of your choice into the rectangles. I labeled them in step 5 of what each rectangle will be. I chose these papers for these rectangles:
   
   
   
9. I wanted the dots a little bigger on the red pieces. I opened the Fill Panel in the software and chose the Fill Pattern tab.Select all 3 red panels. Slide the Scale bar to make the dots as big as you would like.
   
   
   
10. I like to create a mockup of the card I am making in the design software so I can size the elements better. The closed front of the card will look similar to this: 
    
    
    
11. Open the design file:Lilybug_Ladybird_9_ digital stamps
12. Bring in the 2 ladybugs and the 2 leaf designs.
13. Size the ladybugs to fit on the panel that is on the belly band. 
14. Duplicate both leaf files once or twice. I did twice and slightly change the sizes. I fill in with a light green.
    
    
    
15.  Bring in the file: ladybug-gardening.png
16.  Size her to fit on one of the rectangles for the inside of the card. Do not fill the whole rectangle.
17. Draw an oval around her.
18. Fill the oval with the green gingham pattern included in the patterned file.
19. Move the graphic of the ladybug watering the flower over the gingham oval and center them. In the send panel, turn off the cut lines for the graphic. On the Design panel select her and the oval and group them. 
    
    
    
20. Bring in the sentiment of your choice. The one I chose is file:  LBL - 101. png. I chose this specifically because I felt "all wrapped up in a hug" went well with the style of the card.
21. Draw an oval around the sentiment. Change the sentiments lines to black. In the send panel, set the text to "no cut" but the oval to cut. 
22.  Duplicate just the oval and make it bigger to become a border. Fill the oval with red dot pattern from and make the dots bigger. Put together this is what it will look like:
    
    
    
23.  Print and cut all the shapes except the white pieces at the bottom of this image. We already cut those from the cardstock. If the antennas for the bugs don't survive the cut -- don't fret, they are really fine and we can just draw them in. (The sentiment is no shown below but should be printed and cut.)
    
    
    
24. Color the lady bugs and the girl ladybug with alcohol markers.
    
    
    
25. Add some shading to the leaves with alcohol makers and details with a black or dark green fine tip marker. 
    
    
    
26. Assemble and adhere all the colored panels to the card base.
27. Adhere the belly band together. Be sure you put the right side flap on top of the left side flap so the panel that will be glued to the band covers the seam. 
    
28. Slide the belly band on to the card. Adhere the panel to the band and not the card.
    
    
    
29. Adhere the green leaves randomly to the front panels. 
    
    
    
30. Adhere the ladybugs to the band panel. Draw the antennas with a black fine tip marker. 
    
    
     
31. Adhere the lady bug and the sentiment ovals on the inside.  
    
    
    
32.  I put arrows on the back to help the recipient know to slide the band rather than rip it off. There is white space on the back that can be used for a personal message if desired.
    
33. Slide the band on and you're done!
