Seahorses with Sparkleberry Ink vinyl

 Hi friends!

Today I made a card using Sparkleberry Ink pattern called "Laura's Abalone" as part of my weekly Sparkleberry Ink project to celebrate their return. 

This pattern is one of their most popular and was part of their monthly vinyl box for May. 

This is vinyl, not paper. I cut it to 4x5.25" and applied the adhesive vinyl to white cardstock. 

It's best to do this by revealing part of the adhesive at a time. 

Once you apply to the paper it will be difficult to move. I try to get all the wrinkles out as I attach it and peel the paper backing off. You can also pull all the backing off and add liquid glue to it. This allows you to stick the vinyl to the paper but because the glue is wet you will be able to adjust it for a few minutes. I did not do this as I am not sure how much you will see an impression of the glue once attached.

I wanted some sort of sea life for my scene and I wanted it to be a card to send to a friend. I decided on seahorses. I found a really cute one by Miss Kate Cuttables in the Silhouette Design Store. It has 4 layers. I used one seahorse but twice. I mirrored one of them so they are facing each other. One is 4 shades of pink and other of purple as those 2 colors are in the background pattern. 

I attached them using 2mm adhesive foam so they are raised up off the background.

I only have one die that is the word "friend" and I got it from a subscription sampler a few years ago. Any word die would work as well as using your electronic cutter to cut it. I cut one shadow in pink and then another in green glitter as that color is also in the background. The words "hello friend" were cut 4 times and glued together to make it thick. 

I glued the finished piece to the card panel and slanted slightly to go along with the lines of the background.

 

I attached round embellishments to give the appearance of bubbles in the water. 

And done!

CRAFT Challenge #711 - Anything goes

This week's CRAFT Challenge theme is: anything goes.

The sponsor is Jan's Digital Stamps and this is their design called April Showers. 

I wanted the girls to have bright fun colors on a gray, rainy day. I colored them with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and the water puddle in watercolors so that it is softer. I then used clear embossing powder to to make all the raindrops and puddle shiny. The sentiment is stamped from Simon Says Stamps Sketched Flowers. I use the sentiments from this set a lot. I really think they are elegant as well as the flowers. I used Sizzix Framelits Dotted Rectangles for the dotted edges. Paper is from my collection.

CRAFT Challenge #710

The design I chose is called Bunny Joy. I'm a sucker for bunnies. They are so cute and add a teacup? Perfection. 

The theme is female and I chose a pretty in pink color palette and added on a bow to the sweet bunny's head to help signify it is a girl. Hair bow, flowers, hearts, pastels, teacups == female to me! Inside message included with the design= "You fill my cup with joy" which goes great for so many occasions or none at all.

I started off using the print and cut feature in Silhouette Studio to cut the design out with my **Silhouette Cameo. I didn't get a very smooth edge on my first try but I liked how it made the bunny ears look furry so I left it and didn't edit it anymore. I left the white paper around the flower stems because otherwise the stems would disappear. I drew, cut, and colored a little bow so we all know the bunny is female for this week's theme.

I colored the design with my **Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. I glued it to scrapbook paper from my large stack that I cut using a scalloped oval die by Dress My Craft. I colored the inside of the oval with an alcohol marker and also colored the area around the flower stems to hide that white background that I didn't have the Cameo cut out. 

Here is a pic of my large stack of scrapbook paper. I have purchased very little of this. I keep inheriting some from people who no longer want to scrapbook. I don't normally scrapbook but rather I make cards. I have a 2024 goal this year to actively use this stack. It's hard to use because of the size of it. The other night I pulled it all out of a box it was in and separated it into to color groups and is now stored in a shelving unit in batches by color. Time and activity will only tell if this is helping.

Back to Bunny Joy --

I heat embossed the background with dark pink embossing powder by Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine with ** Hero Arts Floral Mandala Stamp Set and added some sparkly gems that I bought at Hobby Lobby.

This design is so super cute and versatile as I can use it for Easter, birthdays, Valentine's Day, even a get well card or just because.
