Graduation Card with Polkadoodles Crafts

 Instruction:

1.  In your cutting machines design software, draw a rectangle the size of your card. I am using an a2 size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I fill my in with white. This is a sizing guide for all the elements of the card. I am using Silhouette Studio therefore my instructions are based on that but can be easily done in other brands of software.
2. Bring in the graduate design. Size it to fit the card. 
3. Unzip the sentiment file. You will see individual words and sheets of words. Bring in the individuals words that appeal to you and at least 2 of the sheets. I wanted 3 different colors so I brought in a black and 2 whites, one of which will be printed on gray paper.
4. Using the rectangle resize the individual words. I duplicate some and had various sizes. I knew I wouldn't use everything but it's nice to have them ready.
5. Resize the sheets of words. I made them slightly different sizes.
6. Using the Print & Cut feature, turn on the registration marks with a letter size workspace. Arrange the single words plus the graduate on the screen.
   
   
    
7. Print on white cardstock and have your machine cut them out. 
8. Print the sheets of text. You don't need the Print and Cut feature.I use 2 sheets of white and one sheet of gray. 
   
   
   
9. Create a card panel that is the size of the front of your card. Use your choice of color. I aim to have the graduation cards in the colors of the school for the graduate. Red is very common around my area so I am choosing red as the main color.
10. Color the graduate with alcohol markers. 
    
    
    I use Ohuhu markers and these are the colors I used: 
    CG2 Cool Grey II
    E58 Fawn Brown
    R2 Vermillion
    R8 Geranium
    R18 Pastel Peach
    R20 Powder Pink
    R22 Dark Blush
    WG3 Warm Grey 3
    Y2 Sunflower
    Y42 Warm Ivory
    YR312 Light Earth Brown

    

    
    
     
11.  Using a piece of paper that is the same as your colored card panel, adhere the graduate to it with space to the right. The right will be a flap to attach to the card panel. 

    
    
    
     Use a bone folder and scoring board to score a straight line top to bottom for the fold. Glue the graduation to the right side. Using scissors cut the overhang of colored paper on the left side of the graduate. Apply adhesive to the back side of the flap and adhere to card panel.
12. Cut words of your choice out of the sheets of text. Arrange and adhere as many as you would like to the card panel and the backside of the graduate flap. 
    
    
     
13. Adhere the panel to the top of a side-folding card base. 
14. Optional - add a pocket on the inside to insert cash or gift card and stamp a sentiment.

Growing in Unity, Day 5

Growing in Unity - Card-making/Rubberstamping

 For today's card I am using the set called: Heart Mode: Activated. Isn't he adorable??

I colored the image with alcohol markers. 

 I used a rectangle die to cut it out but as you can see in the picture below the die will leave a corner cut off:

 I really wanted this die and this size so I glue a piece of cardstock to the back:

 Then I cut with the die. You can see the joining seam if you look real close but the reality is -- no one else is going to notice the repair! I do this all the time. I would rather do a repair than not use what I created the way I wanted. 

 I added adhesive foam to the back and attached to a card panel with a strip of patterned paper that also came from Unity Stamp Company. 

 I wanted to add some black splatter paint to give it a slight grudge look. I didn't want speckles on his face so I covered it with a piece of paper.

 I added a sentiment from a sheet that came from Unity Stamp Company. I love that they give us so many options to make our projects look wonderful.

Growing in Unity - Card-making/Rubberstamping

My other side gig is volunteering as a transport driver for wildlife.Baby season is upon us now and I get an increase of calls for sick, injured, or orphaned animals that need help and they help to get there. When I saw this stamp for the first time, I knew I had to have it. The fawn and the bunny play an important part of my spring every year. It is called "Nestled Hearts."

For this stamp I used a brown ink as the base color because fawns, bunnies, and the nest are all primarily brown in real life. 

 

I added colors to the floral pieces and a little darker brown to define the animals a little more using colored pencils.

 I chose a nested die set and picked Three sizes --

The smallest of the dies I used to cut the image. Next I cut a colored pieces of paper to be a border, I chose light pink.  The third size is for the card base. I picked the size closest to A2 (4.25 x 5.5 inches) and cut 2 of those. 

I glued the image piece to the top of the pink piece.

I scored one of the card base pieces at 1/2" from the top. 

 I added glue to the top part above the score line and placed the other piece of the same size on it. This is not our card base.

 I adhered the pink piece with the image piece to the top of the card base and added a few sequins for sparkle. 

I decided that I didn't want any sentiment on the card front.I chose a quote from a sheet from Unity Stamp Company to add to the inside of the card. All of these on the sheet go perfectly with it.
