Day 2: 31 Days of Halloween Cards!

 Hi friends!

Today I have a spooky card using a stamp set by Picket Fence Stamps. The color palette driven by The Color Cube.

The Color Cube is a set of cards each with a color palette derived from a photograph. I love using them because they push me outside of my normal box of colors.

I am using a stamp set by Picket Fence Stamps. They have been selling their inventory at low prices the last few months as they change how they do business. I adore their designs and now I have a collection of them.

I created a mask of the house by stamping on a separate piece of adhesive paper. I trimmed around it, cutting the tree off because I didn't want that masked. I adhered the house the card panel and created the background colors. I stamped the moon in the palette's lilac color and used the 2 shades of orange and brown too to color the background.

I removed the house mask and stamped the full stamp of the house and tree in it's place. I used brown.

I used the same lilac ink pad that I stamped the moon in to add some color to the house. The brown is a water reactive ink (Distress Oxide) and it gets mixed into the lilac as I paint. That is perfectly okay for the look of a haunted house. I color the tree more brown.

I use a black ink pad to add some shading and shadows to the house and tree. I then stamp some little trick-or-treaters departing the house and a sentiment.

I am really pleased with how I made the colors work for this scene.
