Day 19: 31 Days of Halloween Cards with White Spruce Studio

 Hi there friends!

Day 19 already!! Here I am with a card I made with this month's freebie from

White Spruce Studio  <== You can get the freebie in this group.

This file is for a Halloween Treat Bag SVG. I don't need treats bags very often but that doesn't make me dismiss the designs and files for them.

1. Open the design in Silhouette Studio.
2. Delete the duplicate pieces as we are just doing this one sided.
3. Using the knife tool, slice off one jack-o-lantern from the large piece and delete the remainder of that piece.
4.  Cut out all pieces in desired paper.
5. Cut some greenery or flowers of your choices for the filling. I used dies and cut them all in green.

6. Add color to the greenery and the jack-o-lantern.

7. Glue jack-o-lantern together.
8. For the background, add color to white cardstock with a blending brush and add splatter paint.

8. Glue jack-o-lantern to card panel but not the top of it.
9. Glue and insert greenery into pumpkin.
10. Adhere card panel to card base.

Boombox Birthday

 Hi Friends!

Today I share this birthday card I made. Now, I will admit that I got into a creative groove with this one and didn't think a whole lot about taking photos as I progressed through it. It won't be that hard to explain though.

I used Brutus Monroe's June 2024 Inspiration Box. It is most just stamps and colored pencils. I started off by stamping the boombox first. Then I stamped cassette tapes all around. I then colored them but I decided to use the stencil that was in the box to add to the background, again with pencils. I labeled the tapes with various labels that I might have used back then. Even though I stamped a birthday sentiment on the boombox I felt it needed a more bold one. I don't know what brand the sentiment is, I bought it second-hand and the seller didn't label it.

I used a frame die to cut the card panel and shaded the card base with red.

 Hi friends!

Today I made a mini slimline card using Brutus Monroe's May Inspiration Box. This one has a succulent theme.

I was very excited for this kit as I don't have any succulent sets. However, the sentiments have two errors in them and it really bugs me. I'm saying it out loud in case you want to purchase this set and I don't want you to be annoyed that they exist and I didn't say anything about it. The first error, and the biggest, is:

This phrase should say "Have no fear of moving into the unknown" and I really like it but "unknown" is misspelled at "unkown."

The second error is:

It says "Surprise Yourself everyday with your own Courage" and the capitalization of a few words drives me crazy in itself but the use of "everyday" here is completely wrong. The word "everyday" is an adjective such as "everyday chores." In this case it should say "every day."

Now, I get that mistakes can happen and if you can live with these mistakes and like the set, then get it. Just know that it does not seem like a correction will be made. I got it as part of a subscription box and had I not, I wouldn't have purchased it at all. People asked them via social media if replacement stamps were going to be issued. No response was given. I sent them an email about it. No response was given. I'm not going to bash them for it because I do like their products. I'm just disappointed in the zero responses from customer service to their paying customers.

Now back to the card and learn how I worked around one of the mistakes...

I stamped most of the succulents from this set and colored them with alcohol markers.

Once colored, I cut them out using the matching dies.

I picked out a page from the paper pack that came in the inspiration box. I have all these listed separately in the supply list below. I am not sure you can buy the whole box without a subscription.

I actually chose a different one that what is pictured but they all are the same style just different colors.  The other side of this page has graphics of succulents which I will use for the inside of the card.

I use 6x6 papers for mini slimline cards. Typically a mini slimline is 3.5x6" and this is only 3x6" but I have so many 6x6 pages that I feel this is a good use for a mini slimline and I waste no paper cutting an 8.5x11" page down.

Here is the inside of the card. We will add to it later.

Ok, so how I worked around the misspelled word is that I stamped it out. I cut it after the "k" in "unkown" and I stamped just the "n" on another paper. I cut it out and then cut out "own". I glued all of it on a paper strip and cut around the whole phrase, My result isn't completely perfect and you can see the cut marks if you look close but I can live with that a lot easier than the misspelled word. I really like the phrase and that is why I went through this trouble. I would do a similar process to the other stamp to separate "every" and "day" so that it made sense.

For the inside sentiment, I stamped a sentiment that I thought would go well with the one on the front of the card.

I used a die to cut it out.

I cut a rectangle and used a t-square to make sure it was straight. I glued it inside the card. I did this so that the sender and sign the card or write their own personal message without it getting lost in the graphics of the background.

Here they are on the inside of the card.

All the succulents and sentiment are arranged on the front and glued on.
