Ghostly Autumn card with Printable Cuttable Creatables

 Hi there friends!

I still cannot believe it is already September and fall is almost here. Leaves are already falling her, although it is very early. We haven't had much rain all summer and that causes some varieties of trees to just start dropping those leaves. I am hoping the autumn colors still shine bright this coming season.

 Autumn always sparks my creativity -- always. I love Autumn and Halloween and then Thanksgiving and then, of course Christmas. 

 Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction may include names of features found in Silhouette Studio but should work on the software you use. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My specific supply list is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

 

General Supplies, specifics are listed at bottom

• SVG file of ghost and leaves
• Pattern paper for background
• shimmer ink and/or splatter paint
• alcohol markers I used yellow, 2 shades of orange, and a light red
• cardstock in black, white, and oranges
• adhesive foam
• white heavy cardstock for card base
• electronic cutting machine

Instruction:

1. Download and unzip the SVG file.  
2. Open the assembled version of the SVG. You will see three different ghosts. I am using the top one. Move all of them to the side. I duplicate that top one so I can work with the duplicate but still use the other as a visual for assembly. 
3. Separate the pieces by color but I cut these pieces in white -
1. The top layer of all the leaves
2. the bottom layer of the hat
3. the bottom layer of the scarf
4. the top layer of the ghost
5. the straw piece of the beverage (I cut mine in black, I wish I did in white.) 
4. Cut all pieces in various colors including the white pieces stated above.
5. Cut the patterned paper and the white heavy cardstock in an arch shape in an approximate A2 size: 4.5x5.5 inches. I used a die but you can use a digital cut. If the patterned paper you are using cut an additional arch of heavy cardstock and glue the patterned paper to it.  
6. On the patterned paper, shade the edges with a shimmery ink with a blending brush.
   

   
   
   
   
7. Add some splatter with gold, silver, or black paint. Set aside to dry.
8. Using a low tack tape secured to work surface with tape or magnets. Add all the white pieces to it.
   
   
   
9. Using the alcohol markers add color to each piece and blend them together. 
   
   
   
10. Assemble ghost and all leaves as shown in the file. 
    
    
    
11. To assemble the card base, score a line an inch from the top on the white heavy cardstock arch piece. This is the inside of the card. Add liquid glue above the line and attach the front of the card with the patterned paper to it. This is the card base. 
    
    
    
12. Using adhesive foam attach the ghost to the card base and adhere the leaves around it. 
13. You can add a sentiment on it and/or inside. I feel this could be a birthday card or thank you card with a coffee shop gift card, as an example, so I am leaving the sentiment until I know how it is being used. 
    
    
    

NOTE: you certainly can use the alcohol markers on the white paper before cut it but I like the more control of placement after they are cut.

Autumn Greetings with Polkadoodles

A new Polkadoodles DigiChooseday Challenge is here! 

 I am so excited to make this card because Autumn is really coming! I don’t love the heat of the summer months and Autumn, for some reason, always boosts my creativity. Just the thought that Autumn is coming makes me happy. For this card, I chose to use the pre-colored image and bring out the Autumn colors of yellow, orange, and brown to help highlight the adorable fox. 

 Please note: I use Silhouette Studio with a Silhouette Cameo. My instruction is exactly how I made my card. You can change design elements as you please and this will work on other brands of electronic cutters. My specific supply list is at the bottom including the links to the design files used.

General supplies

• Digital design files for fox, papers, and sentiment
• white cardstock for printing
• yellow cardstock in two shades
• fine black marker
• glue
• foam adhesive
• printer 
• A2 card base 

 Instruction

1. Download and unzip the digital files.
2. In your cutting machine's software, draw three rectangles: 2.625 x 1.875 inches and two that are 1.5 x 2.25 inches.
3. Fill in the drawn rectangles with the floral paper in the download.
4. Draw more rectangles that are 0.25 inches larger height and width than the ones drawn in step plus another 2.25 x 2.75 inches to but cut in yellow. One to be cut in brown that is 2 x 2.5 inches.
5. Size the fox design to fit in the brown rectangle from step 4. 
6. Bring in the sentiment "Autumn is coming" and create an offset around it. Fill the offset with black. 
7. Cut out the colored rectangles from step 4 and using the Print & Cut feature cut the filled rectangles, the fox, and the sentiment. 
   
   
   
8. Adhere a yellow panel to the card base in a darker yellow that using on the rectangles. Hand-draw stitching around the perimeter.
   
   
   
9. Adhere the layers of the rectangles together and adhere to the card panel. 
10. Using adhesive foam, attach the fox and the sentiment.

Watercolor Autumn leaves card

 Hi friends! I decided to get some fall cards made before I dive into holiday cards. I have a friend that had major surgery this week and I made her this card for well wishes. I love to use the seasons as the theme for cards for any occasion. Let's face it, who sends a card to someone simply because it's fall? Not likely, so let's use that to combine them with life's events. 

I was in the mood for a little watercoloring. I chose this stamp.

I picked a white scrap from the bin I keep the scraps in and figured out that I could stamp this image 3 times on that scrap. I know that I only want one today but I can prepare more for a future use. It's just how I do things. 

I stamped with clear embossing ink because I am going to emboss them in gold. 

I embossed in gold. I love gold in the fall and for Christmas too. Here are two images embossed in gold. You can see the top image isn't perfect. There are bits and pieces of gold that don't really belong. I knew this would happen and I'm okay with it for this design but I wanted to show you the difference between using anti-static powder and not using it. The bottom image had the paper treated with anti-static powder prior to stamping the clear embossing powder. It is nearly perfect. This very important when stamping and embossing sentiments. Sometimes I actually like it a little messy and sometimes it just isn't at all what I want. 

The gold embossing resists the colors. I am watercoloring so I don't need any of it to be perfect. 

Once all painted, I let dry for a bit. 

I choose a black card base and cut the water color design out with a square die. 

I added a sentiment. The inside sentiment will be specific to the purpose of the card but the front doesn't actually need to be. I added some pre-cut leaves that were in my box of extras. I sprinkle some black splatter ink. 

I originally thought the painted square would be a background but it is cheery and bright and I decided not to cover it up to much and let it shine.
