Bingo Challenge #3 with Fifi the Papercrafter

 Hey there,

Last week with Fifi the Papercrafter our Bingo challenge was to make an envelope decorated with a tissue, grit paste, paint, embossing folder, and the FREE space which means anything goes.

I have a giant stack of 12x12 scrapbook paper that grows quicker than I use it. I bought some of it many years ago but people give me their unwanted paper too. I have been using it a lot lately in various projects and one of them is envelopes. They make great envelopes especially the lighter weight papers.

I went with a feminine heart theme. My mind as a creator and card maker is that my "seaason" is usually a month or two ahead of the calendar. To me, I am winding down Valentine and Winter seasons and will soon start St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and Spring.

I decorated the back as opposed to the front. These bingo projects are being made with intentions of putting them in a journal. I am not much of a scrapbooker or junk journal maker. I enjoy the process and the elements of both but I am not one to keep those things if I make them so I just generally don't anymore. So, this envelope may end up in a journal that Fifi's group, which I am a part of, is making in stages or I just might use it somewhere else. I might add more to this project later.

Supplies used:

Scrapbook paper - unknown brand, using up the collection!

Tissue paper - unknown brand, another item in the collection

Stencil - Recollections brand from Michael"s (discontinued)

** Sizzix Big Shot Foldaway Compact Foldable Manual Die Cutting & Embossing Machine

Bingo Challenge #2 with Fifi the Papercrafter: PET Tape, Rub-ons, gesso, stencils, water color as ATC card

 January 18, 2024

Hello! This week with Fifi the Papercrafter's Creative Community, our Bingo challenge for the week is an ATC using these 5 elements from the bingo board:

  • watercolors
  • gesso
  • stencil
  • rub-on transfers
  • PET tape

Most people ask: What is an ATC?  It stand for Artist's Trading Card. They are cards that crafters and artists make and trade with others. The only rule is they need to be 2.5 x 3.5 inches. This is the first time I have ever made any. I've known about them for years, I just didn't get into them. I am not much of a collector so this and scrapbooking are not things I gravitate towards. However, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy making them.

For the bingo challenge, we only need to make one item but we are free to make as many things as we want. It's all for good fun and to keep our creative juices flowing.

Here's another popular question right now: What is PET tape? It is a decorative tape similar to washi tape but made of polyester as opposed to washi paper. It is waterproof and transparent. I didn't own any so I purchased a set to try for the first time. I find it quite easy and beautiful. Confession: I used to own a giant box of washi tape and sold all but a handful on eBay because I found I didn't enjoy it at all.

Here's a look at my desk during the process. I love to take snapshots of my desk while I work on something. I will list all the supplies at the end.

My PET tapes are in a winter and Christmas theme and my rub-ons are summer themed and even a different color palette. I had to figure out how to make this work with what I have. I only have white gesso but i have some inexpensive water color sets and a few aqua pigments. I do have an addiction to stencils so I just had to pick a few out.

ATC #1 The polar bears

PET tape: polar bear
Stencil: the blue stars
Rub ons: red-ish stars
Watercolor: the blue
Gesso: colored with the blue watercolor, applied thickly with stencil to give some texture

ATC #2:

PET tape: the girl
Stencil: the background
Rub ons: the flower
Watercolor: the yellow
Gesso: colored yellow and applied with a stencil

ATC #3:

PET tape: hands with mug and white flower
Stencil: the background white is a mandala
Rub ons: the green leaves
Watercolor: the redish background color
Gesso: all the white

I'm quite pleased with my first 3 ATC cards ever! Plus my first use of PET tape! I will be adding more to my wishlist, probably more rub-ons too.
